Cancer, Older People and Advocacy (COPA)
Knowsley Pensioners Advocacy and Information Service (KPAIS) are deliver a brand new cancer advocacy service. We will be provide independent advocacy, one to one support and help for anyone over 50 who is affected by cancer.
Cancer can bring bewildering changes to the lives of those diagnosed but can also have a major impact on family, carers and friends. We support older people affected by cancer to make sure that healthcare professionals, social services, benefits and other agencies understand and respect your wishes.
We support older people affected by cancer to make informed choices and decisions about treatment and care. We can help you find out whatever you need to know from information on cancer through to what practical help is available locally.
If you need cancer advocacy support or would like to talk to someone about it then please contact COPA lead Valerie McGregor at KPAIS on 0151 449 3706 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
We are also looking to recruit volunteer advocates aged 50+ who have been affected by cancer, to work with us on this project. You will receive full training, support and out of pocket expenses. Watch this space to find out more.
Our scheme is part of the national Cancer, Older People and Advocacy project led by the Older People’s Advocacy Alliance (OPAAL) and is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support and Big Lottery Silver Dreams Flagship Fund in association with the Daily Mail.
